Phthisis Diagnostics’ Research Team
Crystal Icenhour, PhD - President & Chief Science Officer – Dr. Icenhour has extensive training in pathogen detection and molecular biology. She has performed infectious disease research for more than 10 years. Dr. Icenhour trained at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic, and Duke University Medical Center in infectious diseases. Additionally, Dr. Icenhour served as the Chair of the National Postdoctoral Association in 2008, which included managing staff and directors, reviewing and approving financials, fundraising, and serving as the public face of the organization. At Phthisis Diagnostics, Dr. Icenhour provides leadership, develops short/long-term corporate strategies, develops strategic partnerships, and ensures financial goals are met. She also leads and directs the Research & Development Team.
Linh Nguyen– Research Technician – Ms. Nguyen graduated from the University of Virginia in May 2009, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering. At Phthisis Diagnostics, she is a Research Technician, leading projects in nucleic acid extractions and synthetic molecular standards, as well as assisting others scientists with projects as needed. Her primary focus is on the launch and technical support of Phthisis’ first product, E-Sphere® Stool DNA Extraction Kit.
Laura Sahnow– Research Technician – Mrs. Sahnow completed a Bachelor of Biological Sciences degree from Virginia Tech in May 2010. She has training in plant and animal biology research. She is currently a Research Technician at Phthisis, working with the team on a variety of projects and learning more about the world of molecular biology. She is enjoying the experience and knowledge being gained as the newest team member.
